Subbulakshmi’s fans to celebrate her birth anniversary with special edition engraved gold coins. The gold coins, weighing 2gms, 4gms and 8gms, engraved with M.S. Subbulakshmi’s image, are available at select Tanishq stores in the city.

M.S. Subbulakshmi, one of the stalwarts of Carnatic music, was born on 16th September 1916, and has many accolades to her credit including the fact that she was the first musician to be awarded the Bharat Ratna. Paying tribute to her humanitarian work and her devotion to Carnatic music, Tanishq had, earlier this year, contributed the proceeds from the sale of these special edition coins towards cancer and diabetes research through the Adyar Cancer Institute and the TAG-VHS Diabetes Research Centre, both in Chennai. Tanishq special edition coins are a memoir to all her fans across the country who can relive the purity of her voice and her journey through 96 years since her birth.
