A large number of diamond and jewellery companies extended their support to the Joy Box campaign launched by Gemological Science International (GSI) to provide school supplies to needy children.
The campaign is a social initiative for Each One Teach One, which is tied to "Educate a Child, Discover a Personality" -- a charitable foundation aimed for underprivileged children in Mumbai.
As part of this initiative, the Joy Boxes, where companies could make their contributions, were places at different locations within the Bharat Diamond Bourse. GSI also offered them the option of having donations collected from their offices.
Contributions were received from Hari Krishna Diamonds, Moksh Jewellers, Fine Creations, PhalakImpex, Steck Beck, Fashion Exim and others, and supplies were handed over to the foundation recently.
Hema Raney, the CEO of Each One Teach One, on receiving the first Joy Box, said, “The children were overjoyed to see the amount of items contributed, which consisted of clothes, umbrellas, stationary items and so on. Each One Teach One appreciates the support of the gems and jewellery industry and especially GSI.”
