As the India Gem & Jewellery Machinery Expo at Surat entered its final phase on Sunday, the mood among exhibitors was largely positive.
"It has been a good show," said Yoav Efrat of Sarine Technologies, while adding a rider that he did hope it would attract more “key decision makers” in the future. “The visitors are serious about understanding the potential of our new offerings,” he added,”and we got some good inquiries.”
Kathrin Schoenke of Bangalore-based KNS Consulting India which distributes high definition 3D printers with castable resins and arc welding technology that is almost as versatile as a laser welder, was also positive about the response she got, lamenting that she had not heard about the event early enough to participate last year. "The audience is just right – they are the production people who understand machines and know what they need. At IIJS we end up discussing with retailers who may not fullly grasp the technical side of production with the same depth,” she elaborated.
Daniel Benjano, a partner at OGI Systems, was quite ecstatic about the show. The copmany, which has had a representative in India for many years, launched new improved software and systems for inclusion mapping at the show. “The response we got was excellent – not only were there some great inquiries, there is also possibility of us entering into a new JV in India,” he said.
Rajesh Garg of Garg Electroheat, which represents certain international manufactures of alloy and solder products as well as casting and refining machines, in addition to offering some of their own locally manufactured products, said, “We had good visitors, sales and also inquiries. I am happy with the show.”
He however said that managing shows held outside Mumbai where his office is located is a big challenge for smaller machinery companies like his. “The logisitics of moving machines around the country are complex and expensive. What’s more when we take the machines we brought here for display back we have to pay octroi in Mumbai. I hope the organisers can take it up with the authorities,” he said.
