Graff Unveils Record-Breaking 118 ct Flawless Heart-shaped Diamond

Graff Diamonds, already known for having crafted some of the largest and most unqiue diamonds in the world, has unveiled another record breaking stone, this one a 118.78 carat flawless heart shaped diamond said to be the largest flawless diamond of this shape in the world.

The magnificent creation has been manufactured from a 357 carat rough diamond discovered at the Letšeng Mine in Lesotho in 2015. It has taken 18 months of careful planning, cutting and polishing before it could achieve its final shape.

Dubbed by the jeweller as the Graff Venus, it required special tools and technology to be recovered from the rough. The 357 ct rough also yielded 22 other smaller stones.

The Venus is classified as a colourless D Type IIa diamond with excellent polish, excellent symmetry and no fluorescence.

Jeweller Laurence Graff, who was closely involved in the cutting described the stone as the most beautiful heart-shaped diamond he had seen, and said that there was no price estimate, adding that the diamond may not even be up for sale.
