First Ever International Colored Gemstone Mines to Market Conference to be organised by GJEPC A step towards consolidating India as a Global Brand

Jaipur, September 9, 2011: The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council of India (GJEPC) will be organizing the first ever International Colored Gemstone Mines to Market Conference on the 2 nd & 3rd of November 2011 in Jaipur. The two day conference will witness experts from various countries assemble here and discuss the various aspects involved in global colored Gemstone trade. Based on Council’s existing initiative of International Diamond Conference held last year, Mines to Market for Colored Gemstone aims at reinforcing India’s position as the global hub for colored Gemstones.

The Gem & Jewellery industry is undoubtedly the fastest growing industry in the world. In India not only does it contribute extensively to the economy but also provides substantial employment opportunities in the country. With Mines to Market initiative, the industry stands to address all the global concerns, forge a solid road ahead, determine all the necessary steps that need to be taken to establish and maintain the Global Brand positioning of India. We are the leaders in manufacturing emeralds and Tanzanites and Jaipur is key when it comes to colour stones in India. Through such efforts, GJEPC hope to establish India as a complete market from where all needs can be sourced- In short make it a One Stop Shop for the global consumers. Over the last five years India has been one of the acknowledged as one of the primary sectors of manufacturing colored gemstones. Jaipur itself engages over 1 lakh people in this trade. Over the years, India maintained its performance in the gem and jewellery sector. The conference aims at taking stock, of the Colored Gemstone Industry globally and evolving a way forward, with each country presenting a paper on the future plans, panel discussions, interact, discuss and exchange views on issues and concerns and forge a common way forward.

In an attempt to balance the ambience of seminars & conferences, GJEPC plans to host three nights of culture & cuisine backed with classical music, folk & fusion band & sound & light show from Jaipur giving the event a true Indian touch.

This year, GJEPC has confirmed the following list of speaker who will broadly cover topics relating every aspect of colour stone trade from mining & geology, enhancements, treatments & other researches to branding & marketing, logistic & finance among others. The conference will be moderated by industry expert & gem explorer, Mr. Yianni Melas
