A week-long workshop on diamond grading conducted by The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council’s (GJEPC) Surat as part of its “Kaushalyam” series opened at Surat yesterday.

The theory and practical sessions are being conducted by Indian Diamond Institute, GJEPC’s Knowledge Partner for the series. The course is being attended by 22 members of the trade from in and near the city.

Over the course of the week, the participants will learn the principles as well as receive hands on practical training in the grading of polished diamonds considering 4C’s, cut proportions and grades, various methods for estimation, scale of clarity, colour nomenclature, grading of loose and mounted diamonds etc.

All the practical training is being imparted using natural diamonds only, GJEPC said.
