India’s GII Signs Agreement for Technical Collaboration with China’s NGTC

The Gemmological Institute of India (GII), Mumbai and National Gem Testing Center (NGTC), China, recently signed an  agreement  for the “development and promotion of various technical and trade related aspects connected to (the) Diamond Industry,” GII announced. The collaboration between the two gemmological institutes is expected to  be of mutual benefit to both countries.

Under the agreement, it is envisaged, the two organisations can conduct training courses to exchange expertise and can acquire and install new materials and equipment; as well as exchange samples.

“The agreement has paved the way for working together to reinforce  scientific and technical collaboration, and agree to mutually exchange their gem expertise, in particular,” GII said. The two organisations will also discuss gem grading standards  for mutual enhancement of expertise.

GII said the collaboration between the two institutes will also strengthen trade relations between the two countries, especially within the diamond trade and industry. “This will definitely give a fillip to the exports of diamonds from India to China,” GII concluded.
