GJEPC Gujarat Conducts Retail Seminar in Gandhidham; Diamond Grading Course in Rajkot

The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council’s Gujarat regional office hosted a seminar on Retail Sales and Retail Exports in Gandhidham, Kutch on Sunday 28 April, 2019 to discuss issues such as changing consumer demand, socio-economic situation, art of selling, how to retain consumers, how to enter into international markets and the benefits of doing so, etc. The event, held as part of the Kaushalyam series, was supported by the Kutch Bullion Federation.

The seminar was addressed by Hetal Vakil Valia, Marketing Consultant and Trainer, Mumbai. She spoke about retail sales and discussed the different requirements of consumers, role of salespersons, types of training needed, knowledge they should possess while dealing with different age groups of customers, individual story telling products, customisation, visual merchandizing and how to address the changing requirement and taste of consumers at local and world level. 

The other expert on the panel, Kartik Pancholi, Partner, International Service Cargo, Ahmedabad gave information related to doing business in the international market, covering the various types of registrations required, documentation, logistics, payment disbursement, insurance etc.

Earlier Regional Chairman, Dinesh Navadiya introduced the GJEPC, with details about its major activities and initiatives. He urged those present to broaden their vision and explore the world market without limiting themselves to local retail market. 

He also spoke about the Common Facility Centre project, the Kaushalyam programmes and benefits of becoming members of the Council.  GJEPC officials also offered to conduct a camp to help members apply for various registrations including IEC, Customs MYKYC, GJEPC membership etc.

More than 130 participants from Anjar, Bhuj, Gandhidham and Mandavi attended the seminar. The President of Federation Mansukh Kodrani expressed his appreciation of the GJEPC for the effort of conducting this event in Gandhidham.

Diamond Grading workshop

A couple of days earlier, GJEPC RO also conducted a training workshop on “Diamond Grading” in Rajkot from 24 to 27 April, 2019 under the series “Kaushalyam”. More than 25 trade members from Rajkot G&J industry received hands-on training in the art of grading polished diamonds based on the 4Cs.

The training was conducted with natural diamonds and was given by the "Knowledge Partner" Indian Diamond Institute.
