Fifteen leading jewellery manufacturer-exporters from India are participating in the 3rd Indo-US Jewellery Business Development Conference (BDC) that opens the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Chicago today and will run till May 3. This is the first such event being organised in the US. Earlier, two similar conferences were held in October 2007 and 2008 in India.

The BDC aims at helping to increase business between the two primary supply chain partners (India & US), with a special focus on new customer acquisition from retail segments that Indian manufacturers have had limited interaction with such as mid-sized national and regional retail chains and the larger jewellery-buying organizations representing groups of key independent retailers.

Sessions are structured so as to enable the two sides to go beyond merely discussing more competetive pricing and discover new and better ways to work together in all aspects, including manufacturing, design, production, material acquisition and retail marketing.

In addition to general sessions where topics of common interest will be discussed, there will also be in-depth one-to-one meetings with each representative of a participating retailer.
