ALROSA's Auction in Vladivostok Garners US$ 12.9 million

PJSC ALROSA’s recent auction of industrial grade and gem quality natural rough diamonds held in the Eurasian Diamond Centre in Primorye (the Russian Far East) earned for the Company US$ 12.9 million for a total of 461 thousand carats. Included in this were 440,000 carats of industrial grade diamonds which sold for US$ 4.924 million; and 21,000   carats of gem quality diamonds which were purchased for US$ 7.98 million.

In all 22 companies from China, South Korea, India, Europe, Russia and other countries participated in the auction. The main buyers however, were Indian and Chinese companies. 

The Eurasian Diamond Centre auction had all facilities required to make the sales. This included a branch of the Russian Gokhran, vault, specialised carrier and bank, and a specialised permanent excise customs post. “Combining the functions of a trading platform, storage, logistics, registration and control in one complex located close to the airport allows speeding up the shipping of goods up to 2-3 days,” ALROSA said.

Through 2017, the Company is plans to sell two million carats of all types of diamonds which would roughly be worth US$ 73 million through its Far East branch. Auctions for special size 10.8+ and industrial grade rough diamonds will be held in the next three months, the Company announced.
