Alrosa to Hold Industry Specific Session at the Eastern Economic Forum

Alrosa, which is a general partner of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) scheduled to take place in Vladivostok from September 3rd to 5th, 2015, will hold an industry-specific session, the Company announced.

The session, “New Development Drivers of Global Diamond Business in Asia Pacific” will see participants  discussing “the current condition and prospects for further development of the global diamond market, the potential of new jewellery consumption markets (including Russia), measures to stimulate consumer demand and promote demand for polished diamonds as a unique product”, the Company outlined. Representatives of major industry organisations and those from the manufacturing and jewellery businesses will take part in the discussion.

Apart from this, Alrosa representatives will also participate in another important session, “Mineral Wealth: Extraction and Processing”.  During this session, the Company says, it will present its “main investment projects aligned with the corporate long-term development”.

 “The Eastern Economic Forum presents an excellent opportunity for the authorities and Russian and foreign businessmen to discuss prospects of the East of Russia social and economic development, including those of the diamond industry,” said Andrey Zharkov, President of ALROSA. “The Russian Far East is the key region for the Russian diamond business.”

He went on to say: “The country’s major diamond deposits are located in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia); about 40,000 employees live and work here. ALROSA invests heavily in the development of the region’s currently operational and new production capacities. These measures will allow Alrosa to maintain high production volumes and encourage social and economic development of the Republic through dividend and tax payment, and new jobs creation.”
