Amazon Expands Online Jewellery Offerings Through Tie-ups with Leading Retailers

Amazon.in, one of the leading online retail platforms in the country has expanded the offerings on its jewellery section through tie-ups with leading retailers such as Senco Gold and Diamonds (SGD), Joyalukkas and others, according to media reports.

Suvankar Sen, executive director of SGD, was reported to have said that the partnership between his company and the online retailggiant will give their jewellery pan-India exposure. Currently the jeweller said it was offering a range of over 450 products priced mainly between Rs 7,000 – Rs 40,000. Going forward the online offerings would be based on user behavioural and analytical data reflecting online customers’ tastes and preferences that Amazon will be sharing with the retailer.

The jeweller also said that sales would be driven by 22k gold coins, mangalsutras and neckpieces, as well as jewellery studded with ‘American diamonds’ (CZ).

Commenting on the association, Mayank Shivam, category leader of Amazon Fashion India, was quoted as saying, “We launched the jewellery section of the fashion store in December, 2014. We got a tremendous response and the growth till September this year was 300 per cent, although selling fashion jewellery online is still at a nascent stage in India.”

He also said that similar growth rates would be seen over the next 2-3 years as well.

Other reports state that Joyalukkas has also teamed up with Amazon. Speaking at the inauguration of a new store, Baby George Group CEO, Joyalukkas was reported to have said that the tie up was launched recently, and the response has been good.
