The Kalyandurg cluster of Anantapur district in  Andhra Pradesh has so far yielded several  kimberlite pipes which hold great promise of not only being diamondiferous;  but some are thought to be particularly rich in the gemstone.

During the course of recent explorations conducted jointly by the National Mineral Development Corporation (CNMCD); and the National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), based in Hyderabad, yet one more such kimberlite was discovered, say media reports. Dubbed the KL-7 (being the seventh pipe to be found in the area), this one was located through aerial surveys along with the use of remote sensing technology.
