AWDC Gets Cracking on Security Concerns

Concerned with the number of threats that Antwerp diamond companies face – ranging from fraud, theft, switching, robbery, burglary,  tigerkidnapping –  the AWDC’s Security Office (SO) has planned two briefings on Tuesday December 16th  at the Boardroom of the AWDC building - at different times (see below) - to  create awareness and provide information on two types of crimes: Tigerkidnapping and Cyber Crime.

The briefing on the former will be organised under AWDC SO’s  "Integrated Anti-Tigerkidnapping Program", and is for  everyone who works in the Antwerp diamond sector. This  will take place from 11.00 am  until 12 noon.

The AWDC says that in the last few months it  has also observed the emergence of cyber crime. “Examples of cyber crime include, but are not limited to: e-mail hacking, caller ID fraud, money exchange fraud, invoice fraud, bank transfer fraud, malware attacks,” the organisation enumerates.

The “Cyber Crime Awareness Briefing”   will take place from 02.00 pm to 03.00 pm.

“This  briefing is aimed at CEO's, GM's, CFO's and personnel mandated to order or perform financial transactions such as payments, money exchanges and transfers,” says the organisation.

The briefing will elaborate on the following topics:

• Status of the current threat (incl. examples of the Antwerp Diamond Sector)
• Operational and financial impact on the individuals, the company and the insurance policy
• Recommended security measures
