Baselworld 2015: Show Wins Acclaim despite Marginal Decrease in Visitors

Baselworld 2015 reiterated its position as one of the foremost networking and business events for the global watch and jewellery industry. The show attracted over 1,50,000 attendees (incuding representatives from exhibiting companies, buyers, journalists and other visitors) from over 100 courntires, though the organisers reported that there had been a marginal fall of 3% in visitor attendance during the eight day show as compared to 2014.

Summing up the event, Francois Thiebaud, President of the Swiss Exhibitors' Committee said, "Everyone has continued to innovate, not just with creating products, but also with intensifying communication with the media and buyers."

Exhibitors across sectors also expressed their satisfaction, according to a statement from the organisers. While Karl Friedrich Scheufele, Co-President of Chopard described Baselworld as “the major milestone in the year, allowing us to meet and work with all our major clients around the globe”, Thierry Stern, President of Patek Philippe, said that this year's show was "an excellent edition that was really successful in terms of numbers and the interest in our products from retailers and the press”.

LVMH Group’s watch division President, Jean Claude Biver described the results for watch brands TAG Heuer, Hublot and Zenith as “excellent” and “above all our expectations”.

The next Baselworld will be held between March 17-24,2016.
