Damas Jewellery has entered into a Service Level Agreement with Dubai Central Laboratory Department (DCL), a division of Dubai Municipality, under which the lab will certify a select number of diamonds offered for sale at Damas, the partners said in a statement yesterday.

The agreement was signed by Eng. Hawaa Abdullah Bastaki, Executive Director of DCL, and Anan Fakhreddin, CEO of Damas Jewellery, at Sheikh Mohamed Hall of the Laboratory's headquarters.

DCL is authorized by the Ministry of Economy as a reference certification laboratory for the United Arab Emirates.

Certification at DCL will be in adherence with global criteria, and the certified stones will be sent to the jeweller safely encapsulated with a tamper proof card. The lab will also screen parcels to differentiate natural diamonds from synthetic ones. The Lab Certificate will bear the logos of Dubai Government and Dubai Municipality.

Commenting on the agreement, Eng. Bastaki said "Our examination process are completed in accordance with international standards with a final overall quality confirmation conducted by state of the art equipment."

Anan Fakhreddin, CEO of Damas Jewellery said, "Offering diamonds that are not only certified by recognized international laboratories but also by an official, reputable body in the UAE will ensure customers are protected throughout their buying experience at Damas."
