Diamond Exporters’ Association Ltd (DEAL) and Bharat Diamond Bourse conducted a seminar on E-Commerce for the Jewellery Industry with Kashyap Mehta, Founder, Diamond Technology Solutions, a company that specialises in software, e-commerce and other technology solutions for the diamond and jewellery industry.

Mehta said that the online e-commerce market is growing very rapidly and that there is a huge potential for it to grow much further in India. This was so particularly in the case of diamonds and jewellery, he said, pointing out that online jewellery sales have almost doubled over the last few years.

During his presentation he also covered both the advantages and the challenges of the online business model, concluding that this can be a vvery useful tool for companies wishing to reach out to the nearly 250 mn people in India who are now regular users of the Internet.
