DFHK Launches Diamond Quality Assurance Mark at HKIJS

At a special event held during the ongoing 32nd Hong Kong International Jewellery Show (HKIJS), the Diamond Federation of Hong Kong (DFHK), a non-profit trade body, launched the Natural Diamond Quality Assurance (NDQA) mark.

The Diamond Federation of Hong Kong (DFHK), the nonprofit organization that aims to promote Hong Kong as Asia’s diamond center, has announced a Natural Diamond Quality Assurance (NDQA) mark. The programme is part of an independent third party monitoring system on diamond quality disclosure which enables consumers to buy diamonds with confidence.

This initiative of DFHK aims to maintain Hong Kong's reputation as an international diamond trading hub for both traders and consumers, said the organisers, adding that participants of the scheme are committed to not selling man-made or synthetic diamonds or any other non-natural diamonds of a similar nature.

This will raise the credibility of participating retailers, protect consumers’ rights and ultimately, enhance retailers’ reputation.

Lawrence Ma, Founding President and Chairman of DFHK as well as Chairman of HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show said, "By placing a rigorous assessment process and adhering to the highest ethical business standards, the mark provides quality assurance to consumers and increase their confidence and desire for purchasing natural diamonds in Hong Kong."

A number of the 332 jewellers participating in the programme jointly took a public pledge on the occasion.
