Dubai International Jewellery Week 2015 Concludes; Consumers Prefer Classic Designs

The Dubai International Jewellery Week 2015, which was held at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) from December 9 to December 12, 2015, revealed that consumers retained their preference for classic, timeless designs for jewellery set with diamonds and precious stones like rubies, emeralds and sapphires, a press note from the organisers revealed.  In the gold jewellery segment too, it was the classic styles which prevailed.

The 20th edition of the show, considered to be the region’s “most prestigious jewellery event” saw more than 300 exhibitors from 25 countries, exhibiting a range of collections.  These included traditional bridal jewellery with uncut diamonds set in gold from Indian jewellery manufacturers to jewellery fashioned with pearls, rubies, emeralds and diamonds in elegant styles by jewellers from across the world. The Dubai International Jewellery Week 2015, thus had something for all tastes. They were around 140,000 pieces of jewellery on offer; and about 50,000 designs were featured for the first time in Dubai.  This year the show was relaunched to focus on the consumer.

“Trends come and go and style changes with every season but classic designs are forever. This is the reason that jewellery manufacturers always produce traditional pieces” commented Maha Al Sibai jewellery designer and exhibitor at the show who also judged the seventh Jewellery Design Awards. “This year at the show we have observed that these are the designs that have been most popular with the shoppers along with traditional bridal jewellery.”

Also on display at the show were the winning designs of the Jewellery Design Awards, now in its seventh year and part of the Dubai International Jewellery Week.  The winners were awarded at a special ceremony on Thursday December 10th.
