Gem-A Confers Honorary Fellowship on CIBJO President Gaetano Cavalieri

The Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A) has conferred an Honorary Fellowship on CIBJO President Gaetano Cavalieri in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the field of gemmology and his efforts on behalf of both the international body and the wider industry. CIBJO is the international jewellery confederation of national trade organisations.

Gem-A President Harry Levy presented the award to Cavalieri during the association's graduation ceremony at Goldsmith's Hall in London on November 3. Gem-A is one of the world's longest established providers of gem and jewellery education, having its roots in the gem course that was proposed for the UK jewellery trade as far back as in 1908.

James Riley, Gem-A's CEO described Cavalieri as a “significant figure in shaping the industry over the last 10 years” and made special mention of his role in “obtaining UN recognition of CIBJO and its associated bodies, and ensuring that the voice of the jewellery industry is represented on the world stage”.

He added, “The work he has done on issues of ethics and social responsibility is unparalleled and we're certain that his continued work will only strengthen the industry and leave a lasting legacy we can all be proud of.”
