GIA Introduces Jewellery Design & Technology Programme in New York

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has introduced its Jewelry Design & Technology (JDT) diploma programme in New York. The first batch for the 26-week course started yesterday, January 14th. The next session has been announced for September 29th, 2016.

GIA said that its JDT programme teaches jewellery design and product development using computer aided design and computer aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology with 3D printer rapid protoyping. “Classrooms house the latest manufacturing technology for jewellery design, jewellery engineering, product development, custom orders, jewellery manufacturing, jewellery repair and quality assurance,” GIA said. “Instruction methods leverage this technology and engage today’s students through interactive learning.”

The courses are being held in a classroom fully outfitted with the latest technology at the International Gem Tower, which houses GIA’s New York campus.
