GIA to Offer Five-Day Diamond Course in Ludhiana

GIA (Gemological Institute of America) announced that it will be conducting its practical five-day programme on diamonds in the city of Ludhiana (Punjab state) beginning from June 20, 2016.

The course is open to all and will allow those interested - from diamond enthusiasts, hobbyists, students to connoisseurs and professionals -- to learn more about the gem. The course will explain the qualities that add to its value as well as jewellery buying tips.

“Students in GIA’s Diamond Grading Lab class work with real diamonds and professional gemmological instruments to uncover the fascinating world inside these gems,” GIA said in a press note announcing the course. “The class teaches both technical and practical ways to observe and evaluate diamond quality, and the basics of the famous GIA-created 4Cs (colour, clarity, cut and carat weight) of diamond quality. Students also learn how the 4Cs can affect value and the ways in which diamond treatments can affect the appearance of a stone.”

The course will be taught by experienced and qualified GIA instructors.

GIA also offers a variety of other courses -- in diamonds, coloured stones and pearls; and organises specialised training programmes in merchandising, jewellery design, retail and more. The Institute conducts courses in cities throughout India, including Chandigarh, Delhi, Kolkata, Jaipur, Mumbai, etc.; and organises regular corporate seminars on jewellery-related topics across 60 cities in India.
