GJSCI Felicitates Winners of Design Revive Contest 2017

Gem & Jewellery Skill Council of India felicitated the winners of its Revive Design Contest 2017, an initiative aimed at reviving age-old traditional jewellery designing skills and teachniques practiced by artisans from different parts of the country. The announcement of the results of the competition and the felicitation took place during the Jewel Talks- 3rd Edition held on February 23, 2017.

The First Prize was won by Ms. Mahima from NIFT, Second Prize by Ms. Vipula Ayare from SNDT & 3rd Prize was bagged by Mr. Sankesh Surana from GIA, GJSCI said. The winners were rewarded with the prizes of Rs. 20,000, Rs. 15,000 & Rs. 10,000 respectively and also with medals.

The prizes were handed over by Ms. Shefali Patel, jewellery designer & entrepreneur.

All participants received cetrificates and all participating institutes were given certificates of appreciation with designs Laksh Pahuja and Deeta Thakural doing the honours.

A special catalogue with the designs by winners was also released by GJSCI and UN.

The contest was held in three stages with students of the selected institutions across the country invited to send in their designs. At the preliminary stage, twenty finalists were shortlisted, and taken on a field exposure trip to Hupari near Kolhapur, a town renowned as the centre of the art of 100 year old technique of silver jewellery making.

The final winners were selected by a jury comprising industry experts.
