Good Business at India Diamond Week at New York

The four-day India Diamond Week organised by The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) and the Diamond Dealers Club, New York at the latter’s trading floor from January 18-21 was a success with most manufacturers expressing satisfaction with the business that was generated, the organisers have said.

This was the 4th India Diamond Week held at the Diamond Dealers Club in New York.

Forty one diamond manufacturers participated in the event, including 15 companies from India and 26 based in New York. The week is now an important bi-annual trading platform for Indian diamantaires to build and strengthen business relationships with buyers from the world’s largest market for diamond jewellery.

The GJEPC team reports that the event attracted about 250 visitors. Heavy traffic was seen at the booths on the first two days, and though footfalls were lower on subsequent days, most participants told the organisers that they did good business.

A highlight of the event was the networking evening on January 20 which was attended by almost 200 guests where participants from the Indian and US companies interacted with members of the DDC and other key trade associations as well as buyers from the US.

While expressing a keeness to participate in such GJEPC-organised events in the future, the participants also shared some insights on how the effectiveness of the trading platform can be further enhanced.
