Gemological Science International (GSI)  hosted its first GSI Diamond Community Lunch on May 14, 2015 at The Gateway Hotel in Surat.

This “exclusive educational luncheon” as the GSI called it, was hosted  for “members of the diamond industry who play a significant role in the trade”,  the laboratory said.

Vidhya Mazumdar, GSI’s head of education,  made a brief  presentation on the difference between inclusions in natural versus synthetic diamonds. This was followed by a vigorous question and answer session, during which various issues regarding synthetic diamonds and their identification were discussed.  

Dinesh Navadiya, the president of the Surat Diamond Association, and other committee members were the guests of honour at the function which was attended by diamond and jewellery manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and the media.

 “This seminar was extremely useful and we look forward to more such events organised by GSI in the near future,” Navadiya said speaking on the occasion.
