IBJA Launches World Silver Council

India Bullion Jewellery Association Ltd (IBJA) launched the 'World Silver Council', a new body that aims to formulate standards for the precious metal, at a special event held on December 26, 2015. The new Council was launched in the presence of Shri Ram Nath Kovind ji (‪‎Governor of‪ ‎Bihar), IBJA president Mohit Kamboj and former president, Suresh Jain.

On the same day, IBJA also unveiled two other new initiatives, IBJA ‪Skill ‎Development and First Step ‪Foundation. The former aims at enhancing the skills of artisans within the jewellery sector, while the latter is the banner under which the organisation will undertake its CSR actiity.

Kamboj said that the setting up of World Silver Council will bring in rules and regulations in terms of product standard and other practices, and will help to establish benchmarks that are easily understood by consumers.

Sanjeev Agrawal, CEO, Gitanjali Exports made a presentation on the importance of the metal to the indstry, its rising popularity and some of the measures that the Council would take up in the future.
