IIGJ Andheri Holds Convocation; Diplomas Presented to 9th Graduating Batch

Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery (IIGJ), Andheri held its Annual Convocation function at the D.Navinchandra Auditorium on the institute’s premises on December 1, where the graduating students of the 9th batch of the three year Diploma in Jewellery Design and Manufacturing were awarded their certificates.

 

Shishir Nevatia, Chairman, Sunjewels, was the chief guest, while IIGJ Directors Sanjay Kothari and Nirmal Kumar Barmecha were also present, along with Namita Pandya, Conenor, IIGJ, Tardeo and senior faculty members of the institute.

 

The Chairman's Trophy for the Best Student was awarded to Tanjul Sarkar; and Ganesh Santra was declared the runner up. Both had displayed a consistent performance during the six semesters.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Sanjay Kothari encouraged the students to take up jewellery as a career despite the slowdown in the industry, while Namita Pandya offered some sound guidance and advice to students who were embarking on a career as designers. Shishir Nevatia shared his experience and knowledge, stressing that one must always be a student, ready to learn at every stage in life.

 

Tha audience was shown a short clip of the students’ work which was displayed at GLIMPZ 2015 and IIJS 2015.

 

Nirmal Kumar Barmecha proposed a Vote of Thanks.
