IIGJ Hosts Awareness Meet on Skill Development Scholarships in G & J

The Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery (IIGJ) hosted a meet on November 20 at its Andheri centre to create awareness about the Skill Development Scholarships introduced by the Government of India since 2013-14 in all fields including gems & jewellery.

A number of prominent career counsellors, representatives of NGOs like AGNI, activists from MahilaRajsatta, a mass-based NGO with a presence all over the state, organisations of mill workers (GirniKamgar), Kurla Don Bosco Institute of Technology and faculty members from different colleges in Thane attended the meet.

The participants were taken around the institute where faculty from the respective departments briefed the visitors about the special features of their courses. Later they were shown a slide show on the GOI NSDC Star Scheme of Skill Development Scholarships and a short film on the sparkling career prospects in the Gems & Jewellery industry.

Student Counsellor MeenaDudeja briefed the participants about the various courses and workshops being held at theAndheriandTardeoinstitutes.The meeting was also addressed by senior staff from IIGJ including Head of the Institute Dr Seema Shah, PriyankaTarkarfaculty member,Design department and NirmalkumarJhangiani, Manager, IIGJ Tardeo

Dr Shah also announced that students and faculty members of interested schools or colleges, NGOs, Citizens groups and others could visit IIGJ any Friday afternoon with a prior appointment.
