International Day of Yoga Planned in Antwerp Receives Huge Response

Antwerp is preparing to join in when the first International Day of Yoga is celebrated on June 21st all over the world, in a big way. More than 1,000 participants have already signed up for the event which is being jointly organised by the Antwerp Indian Association and the AWDC.

The UN General Assembly had earlier declared June 21 the “International Day of Yoga”, inspired by the words of India’s Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narenda Modi during his speech last September, in which he urged the world community to celebrate yoga at  an international level.

“The event will not only bring together an unprecedented number of yoga enthusiasts, but will also unite people across the globe in solidarity,” said a statement from AWDC.

The event which is open to everyone age 12 and up,   will be held at the field above the Craeybeckx Tunnel on the Middelheimlaan in Wilrijk, Antwerp.
