Diamond and jewellery retailer Kirtilals has launched its own mobile diamond lab that will help customers across its various showrooms in South India evaluate and better understand the quality and value of the diamond they are purchasing, according to reports in the media.

The well-known retailer says that this is a service that is unparalleled across the industry. The lab, which has reportedly been set up with an investment of about Rs 70 lakh, is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment such as a Diamond Analyser machine, a Sarin machine, and a Fluorescence machine, all in a caravan that will move across Kirtilals branches.The former can test loose diamonds and segregate natural and synthetic diamonds, while the latter two machines will provide details of the cut grade and the fluorescence or amount of light emitted.

Suraj Shantakumar, Director – Business Strategy, Kirtilals, said the initiative is aimed at creating awareness about diamond qualities amongst buyers. He said that customers can get their stones graded and tested for free.

The lab will travel around the company’s various showrooms in South India.
