NDC Launches Fancy Colour Diamond Report

The Natural Diamond Council (NDC), in collaboration with Choron Group and the Fancy Color Research Foundation (FCRF), has released a report spotlighting fancy colour diamonds. Timed with the opening of Paris Couture Week, the Fancy Colour Diamond Report brings global attention to these rare, natural precious stones.

The report is the first of its kind to present a comprehensive exploration of fancy colour diamonds, offering insights from gemmologists, collectors, auctioneers and luxury retailers. It dives into their geological origins, colour grading intricacies, value trends and the market dynamics behind these dazzling stones.

David Kellie, CEO of NDC, said, “Fancy colour diamonds are the ultimate expression of personal style and rarity. Each one is a testament to Earth’s extraordinary power and beauty. These are exciting times where bold creativity and colourful, rare beauty takes centre stage. Through our vast network of partners and industry experts, we wanted to provide a go to guide on fancy colour diamonds for press, retailers, and passionate consumers alike.”

The report also charts the global sources of fancy colour diamonds, from Canada to Botswana and Australia, and examines the craftsmanship behind their cutting — which prioritises colour over carat or clarity to maximise vibrancy.

Roy Safit, CEO, FCRF, said, “While global trade anxieties have created caution across luxury sectors, the fancy colour diamond market remained impressively composed. The data shows a contained, strategic repositioning. It speaks to the market’s growing maturity and the defensive appeal of vivid colour diamonds.”

“Fancy colour diamonds are an ultra-rare and highly esteemed segment of the market that demands a profound understanding of craftsmanship and gemmology. With decades of technical expertise, Choron works closely with collectors, investors, and luxury brands for the full spectrum of fancy colour diamonds.” Added Anshul Gandhi, CEO of Choron Group, one of the world’s leading fancy colour diamond manufacturing and trading companies.
