New Area at Lulo Yields 62-Ct Premium Diamond for Lucapa

Lucapa Diamond Company recovered a  62-carat diamond from a new alluvial mining area at the Lulo Diamond project in Angola.

The gem, tested on the Yehuda colorimeter, was proclaimed to be a premium quality Type IIa diamond.

The 62-carat stone has been recovered from new Mining Block 25, which is adjacent to, what Lucapa terms as, the “prolific” Mining Block 8.

The Company says that  the recovery of the 62-carat stone, coming on the heels of the recovery of the 227-carat Type II a D-colour diamond from Mining Block 28 announced earlier this month (both from new mining areas), speaks volumes of the potential for large diamonds  on  the roughly 50 km stretch along the Cacuilo River falling within the Lulo concession.
