Pandora Appoints Former Nike Executive to Head China Operations

Pandora has appointed Geena Tok, a former Nike executive to take charge of its operations in China say media reports.

In China, Pandora is known to be facing a major challenge from the growing dominance of the grey market.

“Pandora has 200 stores and employs more than 1,400 people in China but has said it needs to counter China’s grey market, where increasing numbers of jewellery pieces are imported from other markets and sold online,” a Reuters report stated.

Earlier, Pandora had indicated that it would reduce retail prices in China – which accounts for 12% of its sales -- by an average of 15%.

Tok, who is a resident of China will be taking up her new assignment next month it is reported. She has spent 17 years with Nike in various markets, including the United States, Thailand, India and China.
