Rising Enrolment in GJEPC’S ‘Swasthya Ratna’ Health Insurance Scheme

As the GJEPC’s Swasthya Ratna Health Insurance Scheme for workers nears the end of its first year, the number of workers enrolled has crossed 10,000, with additional cover extended to almost 20,000 dependents, according to GJEPC officials.  The scheme is a first of its kind Group Health Insurance package for the industry under which GJEPC member companies can enrol their employees and employees’ families at very attractive rates.

The number of participating companies is now 85, including some of the bigger ones like Shairu Gems, Mahendra Brothers, Kama Schachter, D. Navinchandra, K.Girdharlal, Renaissace Jewellery, Blue Star, KGK, Asian Star, Samarth Diamonds and others.

Participation is higher in the Mumbai and Gujarat regions, but there are also a number of companies from cities like Delhi, Jaipur, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ludhiyana, Kerala, Kolkata etc.

It is learnt that many other big companies have expressed interest in transferring to the Swasthya Ratna scheme at the time that their existing Group policies for workers comes up for renewal.

The scheme is one of the CSR initiatives launched by the GJEPC. It aims to gradually extend the cover to all member companies. Currently, GJEPC bears 25% of the premium.

Companies can choose from some of the different types of policies available.
