Stellar to Close Auction for Baoulé Diamonds on March 8, 2016

Stellar Diamonds plc has announced the dates for the next auction of diamonds recovered from trial mining of its Baoulé kimberlite project in the Aredor area of Guinea.

The sale, the Company announced, will take place in Antwerp via the DDA Trading platform during March 2016. “The goods will be available to view in the offices of DDA Trading in Antwerp from 25th February 2016 with the auction expected to close on 8th March 2016,” Stellar announced.

Of the total of 3,341 carats which were exported in February 2016, 3,295 carats will be sold at the auction. The difference, the Company explained, is due to loss of weight after cleaning.

“This diamond sale forms part of the Company’s trial mining evaluation process of the 5 hectare Baoulé kimberlite where some 100,000 tonnes is being mined and processed in order to determine with confidence the grade and diamond value of the pipe,” Stellar explained. “Over 9,000 carats have been yielded to date and some 5,173 carats were sold in 2015 realising over US$ 700,000 in revenues.”

The goods can be viewed by appointment only. Those interested in participating in the auction, and qualified to do so, are required to register with DDA to set up the appointments.
