Three trade shows, two in USA and one in Italy, scheduled to take place in March-April have announced major changes to their plans keeping in mind the recent developments in the Covd-19 coronavirus related health crisis. While two – MJSA Expo in the US and Oroarezza in Italy – have postponed the dates, JA New York has said that it is “impossible… to produce this edition”.

JA-New York and MJSA Expo run concurrently in New York and were originally scheduled for March 15-17, while Oroarezza was initially to be held from April 18-21.

The organisers of the former have stated that “the health and safety of each and every member of our community and our staff is of the utmost importance to us” and “after careful consideration, and speaking at length with members of our community, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our Spring JA New York Show, March 15-17”.

The statement cited the Emergency declared in the state by the Governor, travel restrictions by government authorities that affect participating companies and the cancellation of co-located events, MJSA Expo and GIA Career Fair as some of the reasons behind the decision. It reiterated that the “Summer show is taking place August 9-12 and our Fall Show is taking place October 25-27”.

MJSA Expo has said that the decision to postpone the event was taken in the light of “fast-breaking developments related to the COVID-19 coronavirus in New York City” and added that “new dates will be announced as soon as they are confirmed”.

Meanwhile, Italian Exhibition Group, which organises Oroarezza, said it had decided to postpone the show from its original dates in April after “observing the general scenario and listening to the business needs of the exhibiting companies”.

Stating that it desired to ensure presence of “customers and traders with a new calendar positioning”, IEG said that the dates for Oroarezza 2020 have now been set as June 19-22, 2020.
