WDC Offers Help to ADPA to Handle Ebola Crisis Impact

The World Diamond Council (WDC) has offered its support to the African Diamond Producers Association (ADPA) in dealing with the impact on the mining sector of the Ebola crisis in West Africa. The “practical support” that the organisation is offering includes “technical assistance, expertise and resources to insure that this public health crisis has minimal impact on the diamond supply chain”.

An official letter has been sent by WDC President Edward Asscher to ADPA's Executive Secretary Edgar Diogo de Carvalho in this regard.

ADPA has 18 member countries, of which 11 are permanent members and seven are observers and works towards advancing the common interests of the continent's diamond producers.

More concrete discussions between the two organisations are expected to take place next week as both are attending the Kimberley Process Plenary Meeting in Guangzhou, China, November 10-14, 2014.
