First Hand-Carried Jewellery Export Executed from Mumbai Airport: GJEPC

The first-ever hand carriage export was successfully executed from Mumbai Airport, directly from the premises of the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB). The parcel, valued at ₹7.5 crore, was cleared seamlessly with the collaborative efforts of GJEPC, Customs officials, operational staff, BDB authorities, the trade community, and Customs House Agents (CHAs).

The passenger received the export parcel post-immigration at the designated airport counter and was scheduled to depart on an international flight at 2:00 am on 20th May. GJEPC extended its heartfelt gratitude to all stakeholders for their support. The Council’s newly established office at BDB has been notified, and a formal notification appointing BDB as the custodian is expected to be issued in a few days.

This milestone is seen as a major leap towards improving the ease of doing business and bolstering India’s reputation as a global gems and jewellery hub.
