GemGenève Ends On A Positive Note

The 4th edition of GemGenève, the show dedicated to professional jewellers and enthusiasts and open to the public, closed its doors on 11th May 2022. A total of 3,302 visitors travelled to Palexpo to discover the outstanding gemstones and novelties on at GemGenève. While the exhibitors concentrated on new business over the four days, the general public could find out more about the world of jewellery, discovering its many facets, stroll from stand to stand and marvel at the exceptional pieces on display.

In its unique experience for neophyte buyers and experienced collectors alike, GemGenève offered a fine setting for exceptional precious gemstones and many unexpected treasures. Of the 3,302 visitors from 70 countries, 1,548 came back for a second look, making for a total of 4,850 visits, a slight increase over the 2019 edition, with 4,831 visits.

A total of 201 exhibitors took part in the event, 160 of whom were professional traders. In addition, seven avant-garde jewellery creators took part in the Designer Vivarium organised by the jewellery historian Vivienne Becker.

The 201 exhibitors had the opportunity to join their peers in a favourable environment for business, for privileged exchanges and for useful contacts with connoisseurs and amateur enthusiasts.

Ronny Totah, the organiser and co-founder of the show, explains, “At the 2022 edition, the exhibitor numbers were close to those of 2019 (with 210 exhibitors), and the number of visits – 4,850 in total – were slightly up on that event, where there were 4,831 visits in total. These figures are a very positive sign in this post-Covid period dominated by the crisis in Ukraine. In spite of all the fatigue after the four-day marathon, you can see the satisfaction on the faces of the exhibitors over the useful business deals done. Indeed, according to the buzz behind the scenes, business has definitely been good.”

GemGenève co-founder Thomas Faerber also expressed his satisfaction: “A significant number of professional operators were able to do some excellent deals at this edition. One of our exhibitors even told us that, as far as he's concerned, the 2022 event has been the best of all.”
