GJEPC Organises Workshop on Implementation of e-SANCHIT

Yesterday, October 17, 2019, The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council had organised a workshop titled: “Implementation of e-SANCHIT: A Step Towards Complete System Transformation”.

The purpose of the workshop was to impart to members an understanding of the technical aspects of how to upload documents on e-SANCHIT (e-Storage and Computerised Handling of Indirect Tax documents) in order to raise Shipping Bill and Bill of Entry which is mandatory for carrying out export-import.

e-SANCHIT, as persons familiar with the export-import business will know, is a digital system introduced by the  Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) for paperless processing, uploading of supporting documents, to facilitate the trading across borders.   

 

The main speakers at the workshop, which was attended by more than 200 persons, were:  Brahmanand Prasad, Deputy Commissioner,  PCCCC, who explained the benefits of e-SANCHIT; Niraj Sinha, Consultant, who informed members how to use  e-SANCHIT, taking them through the process step by step; and Deepak Sharma, Appraising Officer, PCCCC, who expounded on the legal aspects of e-SANCHIT.

The presentations of the various speakers was followed by a Q&A session during which participants were able to clarify several queries directly with the consultant.  

At the workshop, Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director of GJEPC also gave a presentation on GJEPC’s major activities; various projects initiated and undertaken by the organisation and its role and responsibility towards member exporters. 

Dr Jitarani Udgata, Assistant Director, Policy, GJEPC gave the welcome address as well as the Vote of Thanks.

Sanjay Shah, Convener of the GJEPC’s Diamond Panel Committee; Ashok Gajera, GJEPC’s Regional Chairman, Western Region; and Sabyasachi Ray welcomed the speakers with floral bouquets.
