GJEPC enlisted the help of top international jewellery manufacturing experts and technical advisors from Italy for a webinar on the "Impact and Importance of Alloy in Jewellery" on 16th July. The virtual event aimed at raising the quality of alloy making in India to international standards and answered certain queries raised by jewellery manufacturers.

Sharing their insights on alloys were Damiano Zito, CEO, Progold, Italy and Luca Dal Sasso, Tech Head, Progold, Italy. They apprised members on the technical aspects of alloys and their vital role in jewellery manufacturing.

Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director, GJEPC moderated the webinar and spoke about the legacy of the Italian gold market and its contribution to the worldwide gem and jewellery industry.

Zito gave an overview of the topics and highlighted the benefits of alloys to the 200 participants. Dal Sasso took the audience through the various types of alloys and the defects that manufacturers generally come across. He spoke in detail about Refined Alloys, Silicon Alloys and also explained the reasons for the defects like porosity, fire crack and hard spots. He further provided the technical solutions to avoid the common defects that occur during alloy making. He further informed the audience about Additional Soldering and Soldering Paste.
