GJEPC Webinar on Trade Connect e-Platform to Empower Exporters

GJEPC hosted an interactive webinar on 24th July to familiarise member exporters with the newly launched Trade Connect e-Platform, a key digital initiative aimed at strengthening India’s export ecosystem. The session drew participation from around 55 members of the gem and jewellery trade.

Mr. K.K. Duggal, Director - Policy, GJEPC, highlighted the significance of this single-window digital platform that was recently announced by the Hon’ble Minister of Commerce & Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal. He noted that the initiative is designed to enhance export efficiency, particularly for MSMEs, by offering centralised access to critical trade tools and resources.

Keynote speaker Mr. Arjun Upadhya S., Deputy Director General of Foreign Trade, DGFT, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, delivered an in-depth presentation on the core features and advantages of the Trade Connect platform. He lauded GJEPC for taking the lead in educating exporters and underlined the platform’s role in bridging the gap between Indian exporters and international opportunities.

The platform provides real-time updates on tariffs, global trade events, FTAs, buyer information, certifications, and e-commerce avenues. It also facilitates the secure, paperless issuance of Certificates of Origin. Mr. Upadhya emphasised that Trade Connect aligns with the Government’s Digital India vision by promoting transparency and making export processes more accessible and efficient for all stakeholders.

During the session, it was also announced that registration under the Source from India section, currently limited to Status Holders, will soon be extended to all exporters, further broadening its reach and utility.

The webinar concluded with a live demonstration of the platform by the DGFT team, offering attendees a walkthrough of its user-friendly interface and various functionalities.
