GJEPC Welcomes Relaxations Pertaining to Certain Pending IGST Refunds on Exports

The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council has welcomed the decision of the government to extend the facility of SB005 error correction in Customs EDI System for Shipping Bills with date up to 31st December, 2019 and informed its members to avail of the benefit.

In a Circular issued today, CBIC, Ministry of Finance has said that the decision has been taken “considering that the entire country is facing unprecedented challenges due to the COVID 19 pandemic, and that the exporters are facing genuine hard-ships due to the SB005 errors”.

GJEPC has been representing various GST refund related issues being faced by member exporters to the concerned Government departments/authorities from time to time. The issue of the non-refund of IGST due to SB005 error was also among these.

It may be recalled that the error arose due to Shipping Bills having invoice mismatches between the GST returns data and the customs data presented along with the bills.

The Circular also states that “all members of the trade, exporters, shipping lines, customs brokers are duly advised again to make efforts to understand the problems due to mismatch of invoices resulting in SB005 error, and to invest time and due precautions for preventing such error in the future”.

Council has advised its members that they should immediately contact the respective field formations to avail of their refunds.
