GJEPC Gujarat Launches Second Phase of Artisan Training Programme “Kaushalyam”

The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council, Gujarat Region yesterday launched the second phase of "Kaushalyam", a special programme for training of artisans. 

Project “Kaushalyam”, under the “Skill India” initiative, has been launched by GJEPC Surat  with the aim of upgrading the skills of existing members of the workforce within the industry by providing them the opportunity to complete training with practical hands-on experienc using the latest technology and machines available. The goal is to help tham achieve better quality and yield. 

“Kaushalyam” Phase II will also address the needs of entrepreneurs and offer guidance on various aspects of international trade.

The first technical session in the programme on "Diamond Identification & Grading" was conducted yesterday. Indian Diamond Institute, Surat will the  Knowledge Partner for all technical sessions.

Dinesh Navadiya, Regional Chairman, GJEPC Gujarat said, “While technology is playing an increasingly vital role in the development of the industry, the lack of awareness  and exposure to recent advancements hampers the growth of smaller units and otherwise skilled artisans, who are unable to achieve the quality desired by buyers.  This programme will be beneficial to existing artisans as well as new aspirants.”
